Bugs, bugs, bugs


This week's Makaton sign is 'butterfly' 



Practice these skills throughout the week

Phonics & reading



  • Look at your phonics cards and say the sounds
  • Share a book together
  • Can you build these words with your family mat, Tom, nap, cap, nod, kit.
  • Spell and write your name. You may only focus on one sound in your name a week to make sure you know it and can write it really well.
  • Have a go at writing your sounds you have learnt.
  • Practise these writing patterns:
  • Practice one-to-one counting with lots of different things. Remember the important rules:
  1. Touch each object as you count
  2. Say the numbers in order.
  3. Say the last number you count to, to find out how many.  



Activity 1:

Sound of the week: l

What does Geraldine Giraffe find?

What can you find around your house? Have a go at writing the letter l.


Activity 2:

What does it mean to have a healthy heart?


Can you look in your kitchen and find food that is good for you? Make a group of food that is good for you and food that is not as good for you. 



Activity 1:

Listen to the story Monkey puzzle.

Use the jungle animal pictures in your pack to match the Mummies with their babies.


Activity 2:

Sunday is Father's day. Can you draw a picture of your Daddy?



Activity 1:

Size ordering: Can you draw a short caterpillar, a medium sized caterpillar and a long caterpillar? Maybe you could cut string to make different sized caterpillars and then compare them. 


Activity 2: Watch this video all about caterpillars. Can you draw or paint a caterpillar. Look at the caterpillar and make sure you use the right colours and shapes.




Activity 1:

In your pack that was sent home can you cut out the shapes, name them and then see if you can make a butterfly out of them. 


Activity 2:

Can you build a den outside to play in? Use sheets and pegs. Maybe you could read your favourite stories in there?



Activity 1:

Number blocks: Cut out 5 squares, how many different shapes can you make out of the squares?


Activity 2:

Music time: Minibeasts songs and rhymes.
