Good Morning Luna - it's Wednesday !  smiley

Can you start the day with some exercise?

Reading and phonics

Can you point to the question mark?

What did Mum ask?

Use your phonic cards. Can you make the words shed and shell using the cards

( d, sh, ll e ) Remember to say the sounds read the word. Can you make up any of your own words?

  • Can you practise saying numbers in order? Start with zero and count up to 20 and back to zero!
  • Today we are going to practise adding using our fingers to help us.
  • Find your number cards – we only want to use numbers 1-10 and lay them out on the floor / table so you can’t see the numbers.
  • Pick two number cards and turn them over.
  • Remember when we are adding we always start with the bigger number and put that in our heads.  Then we use our fingers to carry on counting until we find the answer.
  • For example if you have turned over 4 and 8, we would put the 8 in our head and then show 4 fingers that we will continue the count with.  “8 in our heads, 9,10,11,12 - so 8 add 4 equals 12”
  • Repeat this activity 5 times - try writing the number sentences in your book!

  • Ask a grown up to flash all the letter cards and get you to say the sounds as you see them.
  • Ask a grown up to flash all the high frequency word cards and get you to say the word you see.
  • Can you write a sentence about the picture below? You could start your sentence by writing 'I can see a ...' Have a go at joining two sentences together using the word 'and'.
  • Remember to write down the sounds that you can hear in a word – say the word slowly out loud and listen for the sounds in the word and write those down. Try not to copy a word / trace words that your grown up has written.

Daily Challenge

  • Can you make an instrument using water?
  • With your grown up -Collect several glasses / jars / bottles and fill them up with water to different levels.  Add some food colouring if you want to make it different colours!
  • Take a spoon and tap the bottles...can you make a tune and sing a song?
