Beyond

Expectation

Welcome To

Studley Green Primary School

Our school is a unique, happy and special place. Within the heart of the community, it is where children feel safe, loved and supported as they grow and develop into confident and successful individuals. We believe that an outstanding education is the single most important factor in ensuring success in life and we are relentless in the pursuit of this. We expect the highest level of engagement from all who share in our vision of 'beyond expectation'.

Maths

Can you order your number cards from 0-20?

Get out both your ten frames - Today we are going to play an extension to the memory game using one more.

  • Grown-ups - Show children an arrangement of items on the ten frame, e.g. 6
  • Children - Can you make the number of objects that is one more? E.g. 7

Think about the numbers on the number line to help you find one more than the given number.

Repeat this game 5 times

Reading

Please make sure you share a book every day with a grown up.  Remember to point at the sounds in each word and say the sounds to read the word.  Look at the pictures and talk about what is happening - what do you think will happen on the next page?

Can you read the following sentences by yourself?

  • The pup ran in wet mud.
  • Dad put the pup on the bed.

Can you ask your grown up to read them and then you write them down?

Phonics

This week we would like you to play some games using Phonics Play. You can access the site for free using the login 'march 20' and password 'home'.

Please click on the following link:

https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/

Once you have logged in - click on 'Resources' at the top of the page.  This will take you to a variety of games your child can play.  When you choose a game, click onto Phase 2 (set 1-5) and this will be at the appropriate level for your child.

Writing

Please do the following activities EVERY DAY!

  • Ask a grown up to flash all the letter cards and get you to say the sounds as you see them.  Choose 5 letters to practise with beautiful handwriting
  • Ask a grown up to flash all the high frequency word cards and get you to say the word you see.  Choose 5 high frequency words to practise without looking at the spelling…did you get the spelling right?

Writing Activity

  • Look at the picture below.  Tell your grown up all the things that you can see.  Can you write a sentence about the things that you can see?
  • You could start your sentence by writing:

I can see a …

The … is on the …

It is…

  • Can you challenge yourself by joining two sentences together using the word ‘and’?

Daily Challenge

Can you sit down with someone in your family and play a game?

What games do you have at home? Do you have any packs of cards? If you don't have any games then perhaps a jigsaw?

Can you roll a dice and tell the person you are playing with how many spots there are without counting them? Remember to move your counter along the the board one step at a time.  How many times can you be the winner?!  Have fun together!
