Good Morning Callisto Class
.... --- .-- / .- .-. . / -.-- --- ..- ?
My question is written in Morse code - use the sheet from last weeks learning to decode my message and send your answers on the register.
Yesterday, as part of English I asked you to name the 4 writing purposes we have learnt about this year and I have to say well done to Weronika who remembered they are writing to discuss, writing to inform, writing to persuade and writing to entertain.
Time to get going with today's daily workout with Joe - What will the challenge be today? Follow the link to find today's PE lesson
Today we will be looking at lesson 2 of Area and Perimeter. In this lesson the In focus tasks asks you to draw different figures (shapes) with a perimeter of 10cm. Remember perimeter is the measurement of the outside of a shape.
In the Let's Learn slides our friends try out some different ideas - note that on the slides 2 squares are equal to 1 cm. Can you work out the perimeter of the 3 shapes in Let's Learn 4? Are they all 10 cm? What is the perimeter of Eliot's shape?
When you are ready try the Guided Practice questions in your Home Learning Journal - don't forget 2 squares = 1 cm.
Once you have finished have a go at worksheet 2 on pages 133 and 134 of your workbook - you will find the answers at the bottom of the page.
To begin with today I would like you to think back to how we structure a paragraph. In class we used a image of a burger to identify the 3 key parts of a paragraph.
Task 1: In your Home Learning Journal draw and label a paragraph burger to show what you remember. Share what you remember by sending me a picture of your drawing to our class email and I will add it to the class photobook.
Yesterday, I asked you to think about the place where you live and create a spider diagram to plan ideas for your writing.
Today I would like you to use your ideas to develop a piece of writing to inform the reader about the place where you live. The headings that you used on your spider diagram can be used as subheadings to organise your writing and each idea that you noted down should be developed to create sentences and paragraphs about where you live.
At the end of chapter 10 of Edge of Extinction we left Sky and Shawn accepting an invitation to the 'Oaks' and Todd smirking when he told them it was 'Not far,'.
Read the opening paragraph of chapter 11 to find out where he lived. When you have finished reading draw a picture to show what you imagine Sky and Shawn saw. There are several details in the text that I would expect to see in your drawing.
Visit Spelling Frame using the following link to practice your spellings:
Try to identify today's grammatical features underlined in the sentences below - use the scrambled letters to help you work it out. When you have reordered the letters remember to keep a note of the specially numbered letters.
Have some fun with forces by trying today's investigation. This is a great activity to take pictures of and send them to our class email address - firstname.lastname@example.org
