Good morning Luna Class!

Reading and phonics

Please remember to share your reading book with an adult. Make sure you are saying the sounds and reading the words.

Can you read this sentence? Remember some are two letters and one sound.

Sam is on the shed. The shed is a ship.

Can you draw a picture to go with this sentence?

Use your phonics cards. These are in your pack. If you haven't already please ask an adult to cut them out. Put these sounds out on the table in front of you.   ( p, sh, o h u s)

Can you make the words  shop and  hush

Say the sounds read the word.

Can you explain what has happened to your breathing? Put your hand on your heart, what has changed?

  • Have another game of I count – you count with your grown up like we did yesterday!
  • Today we are going to carry on with adding.  Can you find a dice in your house? If not maybe a grown up could download a dice app onto their phone to help with this activity.
  • Can you roll the dice and then build a tower with that many bricks.  For example if you rolled a 4, build with 4 bricks.
  • Next, roll the dice again and add this many bricks to the tower.
  • Can you tell your grown up a ‘first, then, now’ story about the bricks? For example, first there were 4 bricks, then there were 3 bricks and now there are 7 bricks altogether.
  • Repeat this activity 3 times.
  • If you don’t have bricks to build towers try using any toys that you do have!

  • Ask a grown up to flash all the letter cards and get you to say the sounds as you see them.
  • Ask a grown up to flash all the high frequency word cards and get you to say the word you see.

  • Choose 5 High Frequency Words to turn into a colourful rainbow.  Write the word using a pencil first of all and then choose different colour pens to write the word on top each time again and again until you have made a rainbow word.
  • Repeat for 5 different words – you could choose ones that you find difficult to read or write.

Daily Challenge

  • Have a look at the items on the list below and see if you can find them around the house.
  • Do you think they will float or sink? Drop them into a bowl of water and see what happens! Were your predictions right?
  • Talk to your grown up about why they floated or why they sank.
