I would like to say a big thank you to those of you who have completed our register for Monday, it's fantastic to see you hard at work. A huge well done to the girls, who are still winning our TTRockstars tournament, though I can see Henry is making a superb effort to increase the boys' chances! A few of you (who weren't here last week) had some questions, which I will answer below:
Why are we filling in a register?
The register is so that I can see who is joining in with our learning. It means I can contact any of you if i'm worried that you aren't logging onto the website and help you if needed.
Do we have to do the work in the order it's written down?
No. As long as you complete your work, you may do it in any order. I know some of you will prefer to start the morning with maths, whereas others might like to do some reading, writing or even a PE video first (which is what we did in school today).
What work will I do?
All of you have a home learning pack, if you don't have yours at home then it's at school waiting for you. The purple Home Learning Journal is to record all learning apart from maths, which will go in your workbooks or on the papers provided. Each day you need to go to the Oberon page of our school website and I will have set a new list of tasks for you to complete that day. There are also things like: arithmetic practise, TTRockstars, spellings and reading that you should be completing each and every day. There is a letter in your pack with some extra instructions and the Home Learning page of the Studley Green Website has lots of helpful links and games.
Today's Learning Tasks
If you have access to the internet, use one of the links from our Home Learning page to complete a PE activity. It only needs to be around 10-15 minutes long. We enjoyed using ours as a way to wake up and energise ourselves on Monday morning, if you choose the Joe Wicks YouTube video I promise I'll be doing it in the classroom from 9am too!
Complete Paper 2: Reasoning. You will find the paper inside your packs, you should be able to complete the paper in around 40 minutes (don't worry if it takes you a little bit longer, just do your best to work through the questions and remember: there might be some questions/topics that we haven't covered in a while).
Yesterday you were asked to write a narrative based on the image below. I'd like us to concentrate on how we can develop our narratives further. We know that there are two strangers currently being escorted to Castle Midnight by the coachman. I'd like you to imagine and write the dialogue between the two characters: perhaps they are plotting their escape, perhaps they are discussing the reason they are imprisoned, perhaps you have a fantastic idea for the conversation that I haven't even thought of!
Steps to success:
Inverted commas should surround the words that are spoken aloud
Vary your verb choice, there are lots of words that are more entertaining and meaningful than 'said'
Create atmosphere through the conversation, show me how your characters are feeling
Write a diary entry, as either Skye or Shawn, about the day they escaped the compound.
Create a poster that informs people about a key part of life in Ancient Greece, it could be linked to: trade, the Gods/Goddesses, key people, the way of life in different towns or politics - I'm sure you have lots of other ideas for topics too! If you are struggling to remember things about this topic, our knowledge organiser is still on Oberon's class page (scroll right down to the bottom) and there are also lots of useful websites on the Home Learning page.
