Good Morning Oberon

I hope you enjoyed our video yesterday! Here it is in case you missed it.

We miss you all!

The staff team at Studley Green Primary School miss you all so much. We hope you are all safe and we can't wait to see you all soon.

Maths

Task 1: Spend 10 minutes on TTRockstars

Task 2: Complete a page in your arithmetic booklet

Task 3: Today we're going to revise common factors, common multiples and prime numbers

Watch the videos on this website to jog your memory of what they are: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zd8j7nb

If you can't access the website, here are your definitions:

Common multiples

A multiple is your answer to a times table question. A common multiple is an answer that comes up in more than one times table, for example 6 is a multiple of 3 and 6 because 3x2=6 and 1x6=6

Today's Activity

English - Discussion writing

A discussion text is a balanced argument that offers two different points of view.

Read through and complete the activities on this page https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zhmdjhv This will remind you of the features and purpose of a discussion text. You do not need to do activity 3.

Once you have been through the link, choose one of the statements below and write bullet points of your arguments agreeing and disagreeing with the statement:

  1. Year 6 children should be the first children back in school this June
  2. Football matches should resume in empty stadiums, but be televised
  3. Children should repeat this school year to make sure they haven't missed out on any learning

Example - I have the same number of bullet points for each argument, so that it is balanced. I have also tried to link the arguments together so that I can build effective counter arguments.

Statement: Screen time for children should be limited
Agree Disagree
  • Screen time damages vision/eyesight
  • It could mean you spend less time socialising in person
  • Children learn better from experiences than they do from screens
  • Computer games/videos can expose children to bad language and violence
  • Screen time supports home learning
  • It allows children to communicate with their friends
  • It can be educational
  • For some children playing computer games/watching videos is their way to relax and unwind

Reading

This week we're working through this Bitesize lesson based on Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief. If you are able to, click the link below and watch Stephen Fry reading the extracts we'll be studying out loud.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zj74kmn

Today we'll be looking at Activity 1 and Extract 1, which I have put below in case you aren't able to access the Bitesize pages. Read the extract and then complete the activity below.

PHSE

Last week we started learning all about sleep and it's importance for the human body. This week I want you to think about things that prevent us getting a good night's sleep and how we can change that. Complete the grid below in your journals, add in any extra ideas of your own - think carefully about what makes it difficult for you to sleep and add it and your suggested solution to the grid.
