Can you find a bottle that you can spin. Choose 6 of your letter cards and place them on the floor in a circle. Can you spin the bottle, now find an object that begins with the sounds the bottle is facing. You can change the cards as many times as you want.

Maths

  • Today we are going to continue with learning about halving and you are going to need some toys to help you!
  • Can you find two teddies, two plates and some dried pasta / objects that we can share onto plates?

 

  1. Count out 2 pieces of pasta...can you share the pasta so that each teddy gets the same amount? How many pieces of pasta does each teddy have? What is half of 2?
  2. Count out 4 pieces of pasta...can you share the pasta so that each teddy gets the same amount? How many pieces of pasta does each teddy have? What is half of 4?
  3. Count out 6 pieces of pasta...can you share the pasta so that each teddy gets the same amount? How many pieces of pasta does each teddy have? What is half of 6?
  4. Count out 8 pieces of pasta...can you share the pasta so that each teddy gets the same amount? How many pieces of pasta does each teddy have? What is half of 8?
  5. Count out 10 pieces of pasta...can you share the pasta so that each teddy gets the same amount?  How many pieces of pasta does each teddy have? What is half of 10?

 

  • What happens if you count out 5 pieces of pasta? Can you share the pasta so that each teddy gets the same amount?
  • Talk to your grown up about what you find out...try it with 3 / 7 / 9 pieces of pasta and see what happens.

Writing

  • Ask a grown up to flash all the letter cards and get you to say the sounds as you see them. 
  • Ask a grown up to flash all the high frequency word cards and get you to say the word you see

 

  • Watch the following song about sea creatures... once you have watched it can you write a list of all the different sea creatures that are in the hole?
  • Can you draw a picture of all the animals that were in the hole at the bottom of the sea?

Daily Challenge

  • Having watched 'Commotion in the ocean' and 'There's a hole in the bottom of the sea' ... we would like you to choose a sea creature to make.  You can make more than one if you wish! 
  • You can use any type of media to make your creature for example, drawing, painting, collage, junk model etc…
  • Don't rush as this will also be tomorrow's challenge to give you enough time to let things dry if you want to add details etc
  • When you have finished - Take a photo of your sea creature and send it to us so we can make an under the sea gallery on our class web page!
