Today we will be looking at lesson 6 on measuring area. In this Lesson Lulu is making squares with a different area and the In Focus Task asks how many small squares are needed to make the next large square. In the Let's Learn slides our friends explore how to find the area of the squares Lulu has already made. In Let's Learn 4 they have written down all their workings and ask us to spot the pattern - what do you notice?
When you have looked at our friends thinking have a go at the Guided Practice questions in you Home Learning Journal. In Guided Practice 1 can you count the squares to find the area? In Guided Practice 2 can you use the information you are given to calculate the area of the square?
When you have finished try worksheet 6 on pages 141 and 142 of your workbook - you will find the answers at the bottom of the page.

When you have finished have a go at the following activity:
Now you have a go at making your own illuminated letter.
You will need:
From the alphabet chhose a letter to illuminate you may want to choose your initial letter. Have a go at drawing it out you may want to use the ruler for the straight lines.
Then think about what you would like to draw inside the letter or around it. You could do swirly shapes or things that you like.
Make a frame around your picture and decorate it with lots of detail.
