ENGLISH - New section please with the heading of English and the LO written.

LO: I am Learning to imitate and innovate sentences from a key text.

Today, we will be imitating and innovating some of the sentences from the text. This means to learn a piece of text as it is and the innovate means to change it slightly whilst keeping the structure. This might be changing names of characters, emotions that they feel, actions and as you get really good at innovating, it might be to change the adventures that they have.

A very simple example would be.

'It was wet play again and it felt like they hadn't seen the playground for weeks." - This is imitation. It is the exact sentence that was in the story.

'It was a boiling day again and it felt like they had been on the playground for hours.' This is innovation. I have kept the structure of the sentence the same but changed a few details. Wet has become boiling, they'd not been on the playground becomes they'd been on the playground, and weeks becomes hours.

Below are two imitation sentences from the text 'The game.' One is the start sentence of the story and one is the description of what the spider did. For each sentence, you need to create 4 different innovation sentences. Try and change the them in each one.

Reading

Today we are going to read on - chapter 3 - My favourite Gravity.

Again, I have recorded this for you. In the class, we follow as we read so try to track the words as I read. If you want, read along with me. Please excuse the errors (My recording bar gets right in the way at the bottom of the pages - I will get better! promise!)

These are the questions to answer.

PSHE - New section in your book with the title of PSHE and LO written please.

LO: To know the 4 basic systems of the human body and how they are inter related.

To understand the importance of food, water, exercise, oxygen and sleep for the human body and it's health.

We are going to spend some time looking at the human body and what keeps it healthy. Now you are in year 5, we are going to look in more detail at the impact that keeping healthy has, on the 4 main systems of the human body.

You will be asked what you know about the human body and what keeps us healthy, before you start exploring the human body in a little more detail.

Below are the slides you will need and also a link to the video that you can watch to find out about the 4 main systems in the body. On the slides are some tasks that you will need to complete.
