Everyday tasks  Thursday 30th April 2020 ( 30.4.2020):

 

Maths task

  1. We are going to be setting up a shop all week.
  2. Can you choose 10 objects  from around the house to put into your shop- it might be a toy shop or food shop or shoe shop or clothes shop or book shop- you decide
  3. We will need coins and a pen and paper to write price tags for each item
    • Every day can you choose  3 things and decide how much they will cost in your shop and write a price label- parents please help them copy this e.g. 5p or 20p or 1p  etc.
    • Take turns to be the shopkeeper and customer- perhaps make a hat or label to wear or find clothes that show who is playing what role-
    • Have you got a shopping bag?
    • Have you got a container to put your money in?
    • Can you make  a closed or open sign?
  4. Useful words and sentences:-
    • Good morning,  how can I help you?
    • What would you like to buy?
    • How much does it cost?
    •  It costs 10p? 5p ( etc)
    • Please can I buy…
    • Thank you
  5. Please  draw a picture of your shop in your Home learning journal and write down some of the price labels with the things you have in your shop. Write down what sort of shop you have ( toy or book etc shop)
  6. Challenge
    • Buy 2 items and say how much the total is
    • How much can you buy with 50p
    • How much change from 10p/ 20p or 50p will you get?

 

 

Otherwise parents please feel free to  open the  following bbc webpage and help your son join in with the  Maths activity each day.

English phonic/ writing task:

We are split into 2 groups for our phonics work.

  • If you are in Mrs Masters’ group [ BH SE LL HW RL LB]  then  please COPY OUT THESE WORDS** and then CUT OUT EACH WORD:-

  1.  Find me  a word beginning with  these letters:-a b c f g h i l o s t w   ( parent say one letter name  at a time) e.g. “a” and your son can find either a or all or are- perhaps limit it to a choice from only 2 of the words to make it easier
  2. Use these words to start a sentence:- I ( or we) go to the … ( you finish the sentence.) Can you make it a silly sentence e.g. I go to the moon?/ We go to the clouds.
  3. Use these words to make a sentence:- I ( or we) like to …  ( you finish the sentence.)
  4. Sound-swap game- Use these sounds d g o i b t s c a  from your brown envelope to make the following words:- make sure you “say the sound as you point to EACH sound, then say the word”

Read your favourite book (from your book bag or one from home).  Copy one long  word or sentence in your Home learning journal.

 

Topic:

COOKING

Super Sandwiches

  • Ingredients:
    • 2 slices of  bread, some margarine or  butter, ¼ of a cucumber, 2 lettuce leaves,  a lump of cheese ( big enough to hold and grate)
  • You will need:-

 A plate, knife, grater

 

 

  • What do I do?
    • 1st use the knife to spread butter onto each piece of bread
    • 2nd slice the cucumber  up as thin as you can
    • 3rd tear the lettuce up into little strips
    • 4th grate the cheese
      • Put the cucumber slices on one slice of bread
      • Next add the grated cheese on top
      • Then add the  strips of lettuce
      • Finally add the second piece of bread on top and push down GENTLY
      • CUT your sandwich in half or into 4 (Quarters)
    • EAT IT ALL UP- YUM YUM
