Get your phonic cards out on a table. Today you will need ( d  a  sh i  m )

Can you make the words dish and mash  ? Say the sounds read the word.

Think of a sentence with those words. Can you tell an adult. Try writing it down in you learning book.

Bubble popping challenge : You will need a bottle of bubbles.  You can just add water and washing up liquid together.

You could try this on your own but it would be even more fun with more people.

*One player blows the bubbles into the air

*The other player tries to pop as many bubbles as they can. Count how many bubbles they pop.

*Take it in turns to blow & pop

How to make this activity harder :

- More players popping at the same time

- Play outside in the breeze

- Pop using only one hand

- Pop using your non-dominant hand (the hand you don’t draw or write with)

- Do you have something you could try to hit the bubbles with? (Be careful you don’t hit anyone else by accident!)

- Use a bubble machine if you have one.

  • Can you practise counting BACKWARDS? Start with number 10 and stop when you get to zero! Use your number cards to help you – place them in order and touch each one as you count backwards! Extend your backwards counting by starting at number 20.
  • Today we would like you to have a go at answering the following addition sums... see pictures below. Try jumping along the number line to see what the answer is.
  • Tell your grown up the ‘first, then, now’ story for each of them and then have a go at writing the number sentences in your book.

  • Ask a grown up to flash all the letter cards and get you to say the sounds as you see them.
  • Ask a grown up to flash all the high frequency word cards and get you to say the word you see.

  • Can you write a sentence or a short story about what is happening in the picture below? Maybe try and join your sentences using the word ‘and’ or ‘because’.
  • Remember to write down the sounds that you can hear in a word - say the word slowly out loud and listen for the sounds in the word and write those down…try not to copy words or trace words that your grown up has written.

Daily Challenge

  • Do you have a plastic tub / tray?
  • Float it on the water – estimate how many objects you think you can fit in the tub before it sinks.  Were you right? How many more / less could you fit in before it sank?
  • Try it again with different objects!
