The sign of the day is 'bird'
Go outside and sit quietly. What can you hear? Tell your family all the things you could hear. Did you hear any birds?
Look out your window and make a mark in your book for every bird you see in five minutes. Count the marks, how many birds did you see?
Use the bird identifier to see which birds are outside your window.
Communication and language
Talk about what you can see in the picture. Encourage the use of words such as he/ she and action words ending in ing. When you have talked about the picture you can then read the sentence. Some of the pictures I have used might inspire your children to want to ask questions and find out more.
