Atlas Class Everyday tasks  Thursday 21st May 2020 ( 21.5.2020)

Today and all week we will be doing some active learning .

Having spoken to parents last week, I realised that many children in my class  simply need to do something different. So I am going to suggest 3 FUN activities to try each day.  Hope you enjoyed all the activities yesterday ( Did you enjoy slithering like  a snake?)

Activity 1- YUM YUM

Investigate how to make a food person

What you need:- food e.g. cucumber, little tomatoes, bread, carrots, raisons, cooked cooled pasta ( or any other food that you know your child will eat!),  plate, knife to cut

  • We are going to make a person out of food and lay it flat on our plate.
  • Think about all the parts of the body your person will need:- head, neck, body, arms, legs etc.
  • Use all your food to make a person. Mrs Osborn is going to use bread to make her body and head, carrot sticks to make her legs, cucumber  sticks to make arms, and long cooked spaghetti to make her hair. I wonder what she will use to make her hands and feet? What will you use? Are raisons a good idea to use as eyes?

Activity 2- BAA BAA RED SHEEP

Investigate singing a new rhyme

What you need:-your voice, and to know this nursery rhyme:

 Baa baa black* sheep

Have you any wool?

Yes sir, yes sir

 Three bags full.

 One for the master**

 One for the dame

One for the little boy*** who lives down the lane.

  • You are the new Rhyme-maker.
  • Replace all the highlighted words in yellow with a new word.
  • Try this one:-
  • Baa baa red* sheep
  • Have you any wool?
  • Yes sir, yes sir
  •  Three bags full.
  •  One for the hamster**
  •  One for the dame
  •  One for the elephant*** who lives down the lane.
  • [Tip – the amount of ** tells you how many syllables the word needs] Make  it as silly as you can and try to remember it for when you come back to school, so you can teach it to all the teachers  in Atlas class.

Activity 3 NATURE ART- [Take it or LEAF it]

Investigate  leaf printing

What you need:-paper, different shapes leaves or flowers or natural objects found outside in the, paint, paint brush or use your fingers.

  • Collect different leaves- look carefully to make sure they are not the same.
  • Turn the leaves over and paint all over the back of the leaf – use lots of paint.
  •  Pick a piece of paper up and press it down ONTO the painted leaf.
  •  Carefully lift the paper up.
  • Do you see a print of your leaf?
  •  Do this again using another leaf until you have covered all your paper. Maybe you can use lot of different colours ?
  •  If you find a really nice shaped leaf, use it to print and make your own card too.

If you prefer:- Parents do please feel free to open the following bbc webpage and help your son join in with any of the Maths activities instead  each day.
