How Does My Heart Work?
We are beginning year 6 with a science unit. This learning unit builds on their previous learning and focuses on developing the children's understanding of their own body. The children will be finding out about how the circulatory system works and the important role the heart plays in transporting oxygen and nutrients to the whole body.
Remember to take a look at our class photo book to see photo of our learning in action!
What Does it Mean to be Grown Up?
Our second unit this year is a PSHE unit with links to Science. During this unit we will be exploring how the body changes during puberty and will focus on how these changes can effect how we think and feel including the impact on our relationships with other people. We always establish ground rules with the children so that lessons can be delivered with respect for the ideas and feelings of others. We also endeavour to answer the children's questions in an open and honest manner.
If you would like to discuss any element of this learning with a member of the teaching team please contact the school office.
