Our school is a unique, happy and special place. Within the heart of the community, it is where children feel safe, loved and supported as they grow and develop into confident and successful individuals. We believe that an outstanding education is the single most important factor in ensuring success in life and we are relentless in the pursuit of this. We expect the highest level of engagement from all who share in our vision of 'beyond expectation'.

Reading Homework

Independent Reading

Children are expected to read independently at least 4 times a week.  This reading should be recorded in their Reading Record Book (Monkey Journal).  Children who meet or exceed this expectation earn a raffle ticket and are entered into the weekly book draw in Achievement Assembly.

This year we are encouraging the children to be more reflective about the reading they do outside of school.  We have introduced a sheet to scaffold their skills in writing comments on their independent reading, which can be found inside the front cover of their Reading Record Book as well as on this page.

Reading Journals

Children are expected to show evidence of their response to their independent reading at least 3 times a week.

A focus word will be shared each week which the children can use to guide their homework choices; this word will be displayed in class and on the website.
