We are going to use Talk for Writing (a programme we use in school) to create portal stories over the next couple of weeks. A portal is an object, like a door, which transports you to an often magical place. At the moment we're all stuck behind different doors and have had to adjust to our lives being quite different; the way we feel and the things we miss could help inspire an amazing piece of writing. Read the instructions below and complete today's activity. 




Use a colon to introduce yourself and share some information. Could you use this sentence structure to write the first sentence of your book review? You could use a colon to share some information about the book itself or the author. Write both of your sentences in your journal, the second one will be very helpful later.

You might want to write your review on paper/on it's own page in your book so that you can keep it all together as we will be building on it throughout the week.



It is currently the month of Ramadan for people of Islamic faith. Follow the link below to learn all about what that means for Muslims. When you have finished, create a mind map of all of the things in your life that you are grateful for. I had a quick go myself and so many of my ideas are linked to our current situation, which I think has made me more grateful for smaller things, whereas before it might have included things like holidays.
