Maths task
- How do we describe (and compare) the amount of water in a container?
- Words to learn to help do this activity:-
- full empty, half full, part-full, more than, less than, [ capacity]
- What you will need:-
- A plastic cup and a container ( maybe a saucepan or bowl) and a washing-up bowl of water
- What to do:-
- Fill up the plastic cup- say “It is full- it cannot hold any more water”
- Tip out ALL the water – say “It is empty- it has no water”
- Investigate- How many plastic cups of water will it take to fill up the container ( saucepan or bowl etc)
- Take turns guessing- were you right? Find a different container and do the activity again
- Maybe take a photo or draw a picture in your home learning journal
- More Maths if you prefer:- Parents please can you open the following bbc webpage and help your son join in with the Maths activity each day.

English phonic/ writing task:
We are split into 2 groups for our phonics work.

- **we will be using these words to play lots of phonic games this week and next week, so please feel free to write each word using felt-tips onto cardboard ( perhaps the back of a cereal packet?)
- 4 Games to play this week using the words:-
- BE THE TEACHER-Parents find 4 words and you say each word and your son has to repeat it. Do this one at a time until all 4 words have been read and said!
- Now SWAP and let your son be the teacher , so that he reads the words and parents- YOU repeat them. ( Who is the best teacher?)
- SNAP- turn all the words upside down and turn 2 cards over at a time- if they match then SNAP you get to keep the pair[perhaps limit it to a choice from only 4 of the words to make it easier]
- SOUND-SWAP Use these sounds d p e i b t s n u from your brown envelope to make the following words:- make sure you “say the sound as you point to EACH sound, then say the word”

- FUNNY VOICE READER- read all the words in a funny voice- try being a squeaky mouse or a roaring lion or a giggling boy as you read each word ( I hope it made you laugh! Mrs Osborn did it in a cat voice!)

- COPY ME QUICK - Choose one word and copy the word as fast as you can and as many times as you can in 30 seconds

- Put out all your words and ask your parent to use their stopwatch on their phone and time you to see how many words you can read in 20 seconds

Reading:
Read your favourite book (from your book bag or one from home). Copy the title of your book into your home learning journal. Draw a picture of one of the things on one page.
