Expectation

Welcome To

Studley Green Primary School

Our school is a unique, happy and special place. Within the heart of the community, it is where children feel safe, loved and supported as they grow and develop into confident and successful individuals. We believe that an outstanding education is the single most important factor in ensuring success in life and we are relentless in the pursuit of this. We expect the highest level of engagement from all who share in our vision of 'beyond expectation'.

Maths

Use your ten frame which has been provided in the home learning pack - You can use this to help you see what different numbers look like.

  • Can you find 10 small objects ( lego, dried pasta, buttons)
  • Ask your grown up to say a number from 0-10.
  • Can you put that amount of objects in your ten frames?
  • Repeat with different numbers. As an extension use both ten frames and explore numbers up to 20.

Reading

Please make sure you share a book every day with a grown up.  Remember to point at the sounds in each work and say the sounds to read the word.  Look at the pictures and talk about what is happening - what do you think will happen on the next page?

Can you read the following sentences?

  • The dog is on the pig pen.
  • Did a big dog dig a pit for a cat?

Can you ask your grown up to read them and then you write them down?

Phonics

This week we would like you to play some games using Phonics Play. You can access the site for free using the login 'march 20' and password 'home'.

Please click on the following link:

https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/

Once you have logged in - click on 'Resources' at the top of the page.  This will take you to a variety of games your child can play.  When you choose a game, click onto Phase 2 (set 1-5) and this will be at the appropriate level for your child.

Writing

Please do the following activities EVERY DAY!

  • Ask a grown up to flash all the letter cards and get you to say the sounds as you see them.  Choose 5 letters to practise with beautiful handwriting
  • Ask a grown up to flash all the high frequency word cards and get you to say the word you see.  Choose 5 high frequency words to practise without looking at the spelling…did you get the spelling right?

Writing Activity...

  • Look at the picture below.  Tell your grown up all the things that you can see.  Can you write a sentence about the things that can see?
  • You could start your sentence by writing:

I can see a … (rug, dog, cat, lamp, etc…)

The … is on the …

It is…

  • Can you challenge yourself by joining two sentences together using the word ‘and’?
