This is our last penguin number line!
See how quickly you can fill it in...
Walt: to apply knowledge of multiplication to solve problems.
Last week we looked at the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. Today we will have one quick practice before moving onto division tomorrow!
Let’s use fish swimming in the Antarctic:
Each whale swallows 5 fish:
The fisherman has 7 fish pies.
A ship has two portholes:
Walt: use a past tense
When an action word in a sentence ends in ed it means the action happened in the past.
I walked to the ski slope yesterday
Change the action words into the past tense (add ed to the correct words as you write the sentence):
I enjoy sledging best
I talk to my friends
I look at the Northern lights
She race ahead with Shen
He paint a picture of the Snow Queen
I call my friend
They wash their hands
Write a sentence using a past tense.
Walt: identify tone in a story
Continuing with our story…
Cimru the seals pup has been washed ashore and the seagulls were circling it and scaring it…She has now met up and is protecting the very tired pup...
Now Cimru met up with her pup and is nursing it, everything is very relaxed; she snuggles in the moonlight and the water is calm. In the morning it is sunny and warm and she goes swimming…
After all the excitement the pup can rest and they can both search for food together. We know something else will happen as the story is changing tone.
The question is what is tone? Tone in a story is about how it feels when we are reading it. It links with our emotions. We call this mood.
Today we will look at our moods before linking mood and tone to the story tomorrow.
Fill in the following with examples of things that make you happy, sad etc.
Here is my example:
How did you get on with your food diaries over the week? Have a close look and tick off if you had the following:
Food type: |
I had this (tick if you did): |
More than once a week (tick if you did more than once): |
vegetables |
|
|
fruit |
|
|
dairy |
|
|
proteins (meat, tofu) |
|
|
Carbohydrates
|
|
|
Well done Hydra. Completing a food diary is a detailed thing to do but it helps us to identify the things we may be getting a lot of and the things we may be missing out on.
But does it really matter what foods we eat?
This is a big question that people may not always agree on…what are the best foods to eat?
People all over the world eat different diets so the answer lies in what each type of food does for our body. We need to start with vitamins and minerals. These come largely from eating a wide variety of fruit and vegetables.
Look carefully at the pyramid poster and draw a table in your journal based on the poster.
Keep this page in your journal safe.
Next week you will need to finish off filling it in.
