Atlas Class Everyday tasks  Monday 18th May 2020 ( 18.5.2020)

Today and all week we will be doing some active learning .

Having spoken to parents last week, I realised that many children in my class  simply need to do something different. So I am going to suggest 3 FUN activities to try each day.  Hope you enjoy this.

Activity 1- PAPER MAYHEM

Investigate how far you can  throw a piece of paper.

What you need:- several pieces of paper, or old newspaper or old comic/magazine pages

  • Do you want to screw it up into a ball?
  • Can you make it into an aeroplane?
  •  Will you make it into a parachute?
  •  Will you simply let it float or fly by dropping it?
  • Will you use a tape-measure or foot-steps to see how far it went?
  • YOU DECIDE  HOW.
  •  Draw a picture of it in your Home learning book  and say/ write what you did.

Activity 2- WATER WORDS

Investigate how many sounds (a-z) you can write in water on the path or wall from one bottle of water.

What you need:-plastic bottles ( look in your recycling) , water, a pavement or brick wall outside

  • Do you want to use a big or small plastic bottle?
  • Can you write small letters?
  • Is it easier to write in CAPITALS?
  • Can you write the whole alphabet in order from a-z?

Activity 3 –CLEVER BOX

Investigate  what you can do with a box.

What you need:-boxes, cardboard or any container ( look in your recycling)

  • Will you make your box into  a boat?
  •  Will it be a mountain for your favourite toy to climb?
  •  Can you fit a toy into your box and make it into  a den?
  • Can you fit yourself into a box?
  • Is it a magical box that can take you places? Where will you go in your imagination? What will you see?  Who will you meet? What happens?

If you prefer:- Parents do please feel free to open the following bbc webpage and help your son join in with any of the Maths activities instead  each day.

BBC Bitesize daily lessons Maths  Y1  Monday 18th May -  (or if you prefer some of you can click on and use Y2 instead)

There are also some English and topic activities you might like to use too.
