Good Morning Oberon

I hope you all enjoyed the lovely long weekend smiley If any of you did anything to celebrate or remember VE Day then I would really like to hear about it: you can send me an email or use the comments section of the register to tell me what you did, if you've got any photos I would love to see those too!

Task 1: Spend 10 minutes of TTRockstars - I have set up another Studio challenge, let's see how much faster and more accurate you are getting!

Task 2: Complete a page from your arithmetic booklet

Task 3: Simplifying fractions

This video and article will help if you can't remember how we learnt to simplify fractions

Top Tip: You will need to divide your numerator and denominator by the same number to simplify the fractions. The image on the left should help you.

Complete the questions below:

Challenge - this is only here if you want an extra challenge, if the questions above were challenging enough for you then it's ok to stick to those smiley

Today we will look at some grammatical techniques you might want to use in your story, then over the course of this week you will plan and write your portal story. Keep the sentences you write today linked to the idea of the door or the emotions you think might be relevant to a portal story (Fear - what has happened? Confusion - where am I? Excitement - this is an adventure)

Answer the questions in blue after reading the information below.

Today you are writing the final paragraph of your book review. You should include: whether you would recommend the book, who you would recommend it to and what rating the book deserves.

The example below includes all the things I've listed in a really descriptive way, try to achieve the same effect in yours.

Read the fact file below, which is all about sleep. You can click on the image to make it larger if you are struggling to read it or if you have word then you can open it in a document.

After you have read the fact file, answer these questions in your journals:

  1. How much sleep do children need each night?
  2. Find three things that people could start doing in order to get a good night's sleep
  3. Find three things that people should stop doing in order to get a good night's sleep
  4. What happens during sleep when somebody starts puberty?
  5. Why is it important to regularly sleep well?
The sleep fact file in the document above is exactly the same as the image below, it's just there in case you can't read the information on the picture.
