EARLY BIRD TASKS
Today is your speed spell day. You need to grab yourself a timer, a pen and a piece of paper. You need to set the timer for 1 minute per word. How many times can you write the word within 1 minute. Once the time is up, set the timer for another minute and see how many times you can spell the next word. Once you have done every word, mark the ones that are correct and total up your score. Have you managed to beat last weeks score?
Begin the lesson by spending 10 minutes practicing your 6 times tables. Remember, this can either be done using
the practice booklet, or it can be completed on TT rockstars.
FLUENT IN 5:
You will need to get yourself a timer and set it to 5 minutes. Underneath are today's fluent in 5 questions. Remember, some of them can be done in your head (mentally), but others will require a written method to help you get to the correct answer.
Today is arithmetic Friday. This is where we will work on our core skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and subtraction. These 4 areas lead into all other areas of Math's and without these skills, it is hard for us to show understanding and development in other areas of Math's. Therefore, to ensure we don't forget these skills, we are going to spend each Friday, working through a range of arithmetic problems which allow us to exercise our knowledge in these 4 key areas. You may use discussion, written methods or practical resources to help you, such as counters, or place value cards. Have a look at the questions below and work your way through them, showing your workings at each stage. If you would like to print off a copy yourself, then click the link below which will give you access to all of our arithmetic tests. Today, choose test number 2.
