Get going with Joe - remember it is Fancy Dress Friday!

We have reached the end of our unit on Area and Perimeter so today I would like you to review your learning and have a go at Chapter 12 where you will need to apply what you have learnt to complete a series of questions.

Take a look at pages 152 - 154 of your workbook and have a go at answering the questions - remember to read the questions carefully.  Some ask you to calculate the perimeter - the measurement around the outside of the shape and some ask you to calculate the measurement of the area within the shape.   Look at the bottom of the page for the answers.

Imagine a Perfect Place

Following on from out previous writing today we will be thinking about a perfect place.

Begin by thinking about your favourite place - is a real or imagined?

Think about why this is your favourite place.

Close your ideas and picture this place or talk to someone about it or draw a picture of it.

Make some notes about your perfect place in Your Home Learning Journal using your senses:

What can you see: Describe everything from what kind of plants grow to what color the sky is.

What can you smell: Are you near the ocean? Can you smell food, fruit or flowers? If so, what kind? Is it a good smell? What does it make you think of?

What can you hear: Birds and other animals, cars or traffic? Do you hear the wind or rain or storms?

What can you feel: Think about the weather; is it hot, cold, humid? Are you underwater, in space? Is there furniture? Is it soft? Are you sitting or lying down?

What can you taste? This one is tough, but if you were going to taste something what would it be? A tropical drink, the salty air, cold crisp snow?

Now look at all of the description you’ve written and describe your perfect place using as many of these details as possible. Try not to start off by saying, I see…I taste…. Try to think creatively.

Write an entry in your Home Learning Journal that describes your favourite place.

Read about the technique of resit and try the activity below - remember you can send us pictures of your creation which we will add to our class photo book.

In this session we will be thinking about making decisions - take a look at the slides before looking at the different scenarios you have been given.
