  • I can explore the work of one author

Yesterday we looked at the work of one Author:

Here are some of the stories he wrote a long time ago:

The Princess and the Pea

The Little Mermaid

What the Moon Saw

The Emperor’s new suit

The Elf and the Rose

He wrote many more (168)

You have cut out the puppets from his story Thumbelina.

In the story Thumbelina goes on lots of adventures.

Please write the long date in the book: 3rd April 2020

Look at the picture below and write about her adventure flying on the back of a bird.

  • What does she see?
  • Is she scared or excited?
  • Where does she go?

I can follow a story

This is the story of Thumbelina which you can match the puppets to:

She was rescued by a beetle and met the beetle's friends:

She went on many adventures and was sometimes sad when she was alone

and sometimes happy when she made friends.

One day she found a bird (a swallow) that was freezing. She stayed by its side and nursed it through winter

She nearly ended up married to a mole

but the bird came and rescued her and flew her away to where she met the prince of the faires, married and lived happily.

Create a cereal box theatre to place the puppets in and create a puppet show of Thumbelina.

  Nature Watch

I can recognise wildlife

Look back at the story of Thumbelina and list all the creatures that are in the story that might live in a garden or in the countryside.

What type of bird did Thumbelina save?

Well done you have worked really, really hard!

Well done on getting through two weeks of busy learning. You have earned a rest! And amazing and all your hard work has earned four stars!

Enjoy the weekend and the Easter holidays!
