Everyday tasks Day 10:

 

Maths task day 10:

Telling the time/ understanding language of the passing of time.

Use clocks around your home- digital ones on ipads or  cookers or analogue clocks on watches, or wall-clocks if you have one.

  • Draw 3 clockfaces
    1. Show me what time you got up this morning
    2. Show me when you will have lunch
    3. Show me what time you will go to bed tothis evening.

 

  • Understanding  the passage of time and then being able to tell the time, involves children learning and remembering  lots of vocabulary.  Please try to use the following  words  as often as possible [ and encourage your child to use them too]:-
    • Yesterday, today, tomorrow, before, now, after, next,
    • Year, month, week, day
    • Morning, mid-day, afternoon, evening, night, mid-night
    • Clock, hands, hour, minute, second, O’clock, half past, quarter past, quarter to
    • Days  of the week
    • Months of the year

 

 

English phonic/ writing task:

We are split into 2 groups for our phonics work.

  • If you are in Mrs Masters’ group [ BH SE LL HW RL LB]    then  please complete phonic sheet page 34 - say the sound, write the missing sounds, then read the word
  • If you are in Mrs Osborn’s group [ LL CC CT JT OH ZB],, then please use phonic sheet page Unit 3 and again choose DIFFERENT 4 words and write 4 sentences using at least one each of your chosen words

Challenge

 Use the sound cards in your pack

  1. Find these sounds:- t b p m b c d f r and  a, e, i, o, u -z and ch, sh  and try to make as many words as possible e.g.  f i sh / sh o p   remember you can make up Alien nonsense words
  2. Use all the sounds and see how many word you can make that use 5 or more sounds e.g. 5 sounds:- s-t-a-m-p or  6 sounds s:-p-i-ll-e-d

 

Reading:

Read your favourite book (from your book bag or one from home). 

 

Topic:

ART DT

 It is Hans Christian Anderson’s birthday  ( born 2nd April  in 1805) and we are all thinking about the many stories  he wrote:- The little mermaid, The ugly duckling, Thumbelina, The princess and the pea.

 

Parents- can you find the story of The little mermaid

Use cardboard from old cereal packets or out of your recycling to make your own puppets to re-tell the  story of The little mermaid or simply to continue to use your previous underwater sea- scene and add some puppets such as the little mermaid to help tell the story. Remember the big mermaid puppets we had in our sensory area at school to try to help you!

 

EASTER HOLIDAYS

Hope you all have a calm time and try to rest over the Easter holidays and don’t eat too many Easter eggs!!  Maybe you can make your own Easter egg hunt and Easter baskets!

 Stay safe and remember Mrs Osborn is really looking forward to seeing  you all again soon and seeing all your lovely work in your home learning journals too.
