Today is your speed spell day. You need to grab a timer, a pen and a piece of paper. Set a timer of 1 minute per word. See how many times you can correctly spell each word. Once 1 minute is up, reset the timer and move onto the next word. At the end, total up the amount of correctly spelled words and send me your score. Remember, your aim is to beat last weeks score.

LO: I am learning to write my own setting description.


Today you will be finishing your setting description. This means that you will be continuing to write from where you left off yesterday, to describe the points from your plan....


1. Once inside, what does it look like?

2. Once inside, what do they do?

3. Is there anything significant about the place?


Remember, we are not writing the whole story, so when you describe what your character does, I'm thinking about describing their movement, or exploring something in the hut, not describing a great big adventure.


Have look at my modeled writing in the video below so you understand how to continue from where you left off and how to add the relevant description. 



Finishing our setting descriptions


Today you are going to read the chapter 'Astrogossip'. It is a short one today - just one page. 

Then you need to complete the quiz below which is about this chapter, and yesterday's chapter 'The Vomit Comet.'





Let's finish this fantastic, but tough term with some relaxing art. 


Today you are going to create a rocket, or tripod, or alien spacecraft to put onto your background. I suggest doing this on your white card that I sent home (if you need more - let me know and I can leave some in the office to be collected!)
