Beyond

Expectation

Welcome To

Studley Green Primary School

Our school is a unique and special place, at the heart of the community, where children feel safe, loved and supported as they grow into who they are. Fully inclusive, we promote acceptance and embrace difference. We believe that an outstanding education is the single most important factor in ensuring success in life and we are relentless in the pursuit of this. We expect the highest level of engagement from all who share in our vision of 'beyond expectation'.

Luna - Reception

We brought our scooters to school

Welcome to Luna Class!

We are the Foundation Stage Class. We have two teachers Mrs Solomons who works on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs McGhee who works on a Thursday and Friday.

We are very lucky to have Mrs Marszal and Mrs Whitmarsh who all work in Luna class to support the children in their learning. We would also like to welcome back Miss Whitehead.

Each term we will be learning a new topic. You will be given an overview which shows you what your child will be learning each week. Please see below.

Term 6 Journeys

In our final term for this academic year we will be learning all about different ways of travelling to make a journey. We will be focussing on a different means of transport each week with some exciting highlights such as 'scooter week' in week two where the children will be invited to bring in their scooters to draw, count in twos with and practice road safety in the playground. It's going to be a good one!

(See our attached plan for more information.)

Term 5: Growing

This term we will be exploring how plants and animals grow. We will be doing our own planting and looking out for changes in our new class pets, the caterpillars!

We will be playing 'guess the baby' as we all bring in photographs of us all when we were young and we will be visiting our local Tesco store to find out where our food comes from.

Week 1 and our new class caterpillars have settled in nicely. We have noticed a difference in their size already!

Week 2,  look how much they have grown!

Week 3, This week has been a bit of a dramatic week for the caterpillars. We came to school on Wednesday to find 4 of them lying on the bottom of the pot very still. Two  of them had definitely died. Mrs McGhee took them home to look after them and discovered the next morning that one had managed to climb to the top. Another two on the bottom were looking like they were trying to turn into chrysalides. We are unsure whether the ones on the floor will survive. Mrs McGhee will continue to look after them and keep Luna class updated.

We ended up with two butterflies that the children helped to release into the school gardens. One even sat on Mrs Marszal's finger.

In Luna class we have our own class email. You can send us photos and video clips of what you have been up to at home. We will then share them in class lunar@studleygreen.wilts.sch.uk ( please note there is an r on the end of Luna class)
