I have been a Governor at Studley Green school since spring 2009 and have been Chair of Governors for the last two years. It is both a pleasure and a privilege to be associated with this fine school.
The Governing Body has a shared responsibility for all aspects of the running of the school, including setting the budget, employment of teachers and support staff and the monitoring of learning. It is our job to ensure that the school is run efficiently and to maximum effect. The Governing Body and its associated sub-committees meet regularly for discussion, and I have regular meetings with the Head to ensure that I am fully up to date with what is happening at the school.
One of the more pleasurable and rewarding aspects of the job is being able to visit classes and observe learning. Governors are able to see at first hand the progress made in learning by the excellent work of teachers and learning support assistants. We report back to the Head and the class teachers, who value our input and commitment to the school and to education.
I welcome any comments from parents. If you wish to contact me please do so by letter to the school office, who will pass them on directly to me.
