We have already had a great start to the term with a trip to the river but also Ganymede have become musically inclined with workshops provided by A-level students of Clarendon Academy (Photos to follow). They had the opportunity to make music using singing, clapping, music computer software and keyboards. It's safe to say everybody had a great time.
The very exciting occasion of World Book Day is upon us (March 1st) , the focus is on Peter Pan. It will be very exciting to see what adventure stories the children create but also to see what characters they dress up as. Check back to see the different costumes and stories.
Children are expected to read every day, for at least 10 minutes; this will be accompanied by a comprehension question. This will enable the children to develop their reading as well as their comprehension skills. In Ganymede class we have high expectations for presentation, this is expected to continue in their homework and reading journals.
Children can also access reading eggs to read texts and play reading related games to develop their reading skills. As they complete these activities they earn golden eggs which they can use in 'The Mall' and to play different games. The link to Reading Eggs is at the bottom of this page.
The children's spelling homework links with the spellings they will have been learning at school. They will need to recall the spelling rules for that week to be successful in learning new words.
They can also go onto Spellodrome (please see the link below) to practise spelling rules that they have covered this year.
Every Friday, the children will be set several pieces of Mathletics homework which will complement the learning they have done during the week. If the children cannot access Mathletics at home, they can use our Computer Room during lunchtime.
